  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups of flour (the darker the flour the darker the treats)

Melt the butter with the hot water in a bowl then mix in the powdered milk. Start adding the flour about a half-cup at a time. Knead for a few minutes until stiff. Press into a 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into bone shapes if you like, or any shape you prefer. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes then turn off the heat and let the biscuits cool for several hours to dry and harden them. Store at room temperature for a week before using. they should end up very hard and crunchy. Yum!
